Aaron Rodgers Over/Under 17.2 Pts

Very rarely does Aaron Rodgers lose back to back games, let alone three in a row. When this abnormality does occur, however, the future Hall-of-Famer is basically assured a high-volume outing.

Such is the case going into this week’s Sunday night affair in Buffalo. Rodgers and the Pack have shockingly lost their last three contests — and all arguably to inferior opponents — but if nothing else, we can anticipate Green Bay’s signal-caller to be involved even more than usual.

Across the 18 instances where Rodgers played in an NFL regular season game following at least a pair of consecutive defeats, he averaged 37.3 pass attempts next time out. This makes perfect sense, as Rodgers is one of the utmost competitors and undoubtedly wants the ball in his hands as much as possible during an uncharacteristic losing streak.

This ensures that, win or lose against the Bills, the 38-year-old will be dropping back often to throw the football — and with that should come a packed boxscore.

More likely than not, the Bills will emerge victorious and be active on the scoreboard. At the same time, this game script only figures to provide a boost to Rodgers and his fantasy outlook if he’s passing often while playing from behind.

True, he is likely going to be without his No. 1 target this year, Allen Lazard (shoulder), but Rodgers is obviously good enough to prosper no matter what he’s been given to work with. And it’s not like he’s struggling. Rodgers is tied for the most TD passes in the NFC with 11 and his 94.9 passer rating ranks him fourth. He’s definitely supplying the stats this week.

Pick: OVER 17.2 Pts

The Others

Going toe-to-toe opposite Rodgers on this week’s Sunday Night Football broadcast will be the current MVP frontrunner, Josh Allen. While he normally showcases a notable performance whenever the Bills are in action, his projected total of 25.7 fantasy points might be tough to top if the encounter plays out as a decisive win for Buffalo. They are double-digit favorites after all, according to the linesmakers, and thus, his counterpart, Rodgers, is simply the better value play for an over.

As for our other two quarterbacks to ponder, they, too, will be squaring off this weekend, except in the early portion of the slate. When the Cardinals and Vikings get together on Sunday, everyone should be expecting a healthy amount of points in Minnesota. Such was the outcome early last season in a showdown that saw Arizona pull out a thrilling 34-33 triumph.

As a result, both Kyler Murray and Kirk Cousins can probably be entrusted for nice showings in Week 8. Rodgers, however, is the best bet to smash projections.
