The NFL season is already reaching its halfway point, meaning we’re about to enter the back-nine of our fantasy football campaign. Let’s now ponder some QBs listed on the Parlay 4 app for Week 9.
Josh Allen @ NYJ
Justin Herbert @ ATL
Patrick Mahomes vs. TEN
Kyler Murray vs. SEA
Josh Allen Over/Under 24.9 Fantasy Pts
With that lofty projection, Josh Allen technically has the highest expectations of any quarterback going into Week 9. But it’s merited considering he’s currently the frontrunner for this year’s MVP award.
Firstly, Allen has typically been dominant, hence why he’s averaging a robust 22.2 fantasy points each week. The Wyoming product has been able to accomplish this on the heels of averaging more passing yards per game (314) than anyone else, while his 19 TD passes rank him second.
Allen, of course, implements his feet as well, which can be very valuable in any fantasy football format. In this instance, he’ll be taking on a very good defense — one that has launched the Jets to a surprising 5-3 start — but it’s also a unit that Allen has managed to figure out prior.
This will be the fifth-year signal-caller’s eighth career meeting opposite Gang Green. In the first seven, he led the Bills to nearly 24 points on average, en route to going 5-2 in those matchups. As it is, Allen has his Bills at the top of the NFL in total yards per week (430.6) and their scoring average of 29 points sits them second behind only the Kansas City Chiefs.
New York’s D is undoubtedly stout but look for Allen to prevail once again, hence why the Bills are big favorites this week. Along with that should come another quality fantasy football showing that takes him above his high projection.
Pick: OVER 24.9 Points
The Others
Patrick Mahomes is normally a safe play for a big outing. However, with a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Titans next on the docket, his ceiling might be a tad bit lower than usual. Not only does Tennessee sport a solid defensive unit, they’re the type of club that emphasizes ball control and winning the time-of-possession battle behind workhorse tailback Derrick Henry. As a result, Mahomes may be held to tamer numbers.
